Labor Doula | Postpartum & Infant Care Doula | Childbirth Educator
Mary was born and raised in Ontario Canada, where she was exposed to a variety of ethnic cultures. As the oldest of 5 children, taking care of babies and mothers became second nature for her.
She met her husband immediately after he finished his service in the US Army. A few months later, they got married and moved to Kansas City. After a lonely birth experience, Mary fell in love with the idea of providing physical and emotional support to women. She saw so much value in having a doula present when going through one of life’s biggest transitions and greatest adventures.
Mary’s empathetic and compassionate nature gives new families the ability to relax under her care. She naturally provides a smooth and joyous experience for all the families she works with. She uses her humor to diffuse hard situations and put people at ease. This ancient and beautiful work is deeply ingrained in who she is and she cannot see herself doing anything else.
Mary has a background in music education and taught children for several years in Canada. She loves to cook and bake for others, and finds herself often in the middle of a DIY project. When she isn't busy serving labor and postpartum clients all over Kansas City, you can usually find her reading on her back porch or enjoying a long walk by Smithville Lake where she lives with her husband, Mike, and their 2 young boys.
