Meet Our Professionals
Owner | Birth Doula | Family Care Coordinator
I was born and raised in Ontario Canada, in a small town. Taking care of each other was what we did! As the oldest of 5 children, taking care of babies and mothers became second nature for me. It was something that I became passionate about even as a teenager.
My background is in music education and much of my early adulthood was spent in the arts - teaching classical and sacred piano and working with local artists at an art gallery. I met my husband immediately after he finished his service in the US Army. A few months later, we got married and decided to move to Kansas City. Shortly before moving, we found out I was pregnant and we made the Big Move when I was only 10 weeks along. After my own birth experience, I fell in love with the idea of providing physical and emotional support to the women and families of Kansas City. I just saw so much value in having a doula present when going through one of life’s biggest transitions and greatest adventures.
When I’m not busy serving clients all over Kansas City, you can usually find me reading on my back porch, cooking or baking, and I often find myself in the middle of a DIY project. I currently live in Smithville with my husband, Mike, and our 2 young boys.
Family Care Assistant | Postpartum Doula
Born in Parkville, Darla moved around a bit as teenager but ended up back in Kansas City when she got married in 2002. She has a background in housecleaning using non-toxic products, has a passion for taking care of people and for empowering women.
Darla is a calm presence with a listening ear for parents while they adjust to their new normal, is a selflessly caring person and shows compassion to the people around her on a daily basis.
In her free time, Darla is usually spending time with her daughter, walking in nature or learning a new skill.
Darla assists Mary in staying on top of inquiries that come in and getting you set up with your ideal doula!
Annisa currently lives in Concordia MO, but travels into Kansas City to serve families in this area..
She recently graduated with her degree in Child Development which led her down this path. Her love for moms and babies have always been a big part of her life. What interested her the most about doula work, was the fact that she would get to work closely with parents so they can have the best understanding of birth and their baby, as well as help them with the transition of having a new baby at home.
Annisa’s background in Child Development and Business Administration have given her a solid foundation to communicate well with parents, as well as to help them put systems in place to make them feel relaxed and in control.
Her kind and hospitable nature make her a wonderful addition to the Oh Baby! KC team. When she is not helping her own mom with her catering business or serving clients, she enjoys being outdoors, hiking, kayaking or seeing new places.
Fertility Coach | Birth Doula | Postpartum Doula
Christine grew up in Liberty and has lived in the Northland all of her life. She has a medical background as a CNA, as well as a medical assistant and phlebotomist.
After her first child was born, she became passionate about helping guide new parents through their pregnancies and transitioning into parenthood, but it wasn’t until after her second birth experience that she became interested in doula work. Christine’s patient, calm and kind presence makes her the ideal person for families who are seeking support not only in their birth, but she also is an invaluable resource for families needing fertility coaching and postpartum support.
In her free time, Christine loves to read, practice yoga and find new recipes to make for her family.
Originally from Rochester MN, Evie moved to Kansas City to help a dermatologist open a practice. She went on to work as a nurse in a variety of fields including L&D, postpartum and nursery. Evie later retired from nursing but with a heart to serve others and an empathetic nature, had an interest in pursuing doula work. Turns out, doula work was the perfect fit!
Evie has 3 daughters and a granddaughter, so her love of caring for women comes from a very instinctual and organic place in her heart. She puts so much attention into caring for her clients and treats each one as if they are the only person in the world!
When Evie is not with her clients, she loves to spend her time reading, knitting and taking road trips.
Yoga Instructor | Ayurvedic Health Counselor | Meal Planning/Prep
Jessica has been in KC for 15 years with a few breaks to check out the east and west coasts. She loves KC because it's such a welcoming place to be!
Jessica is a natural caretaker - She just really loves seeing that people are happy and healthy. She loves taking care of mamas because it's a way of taking care of people at the very beginning of life and that's when mama and baby need it the most. She’s really passionate about food and so her main service is meal prep and meal delivery. Her mission is to make sure that you are fed and satisfied! Every mama can be a nourished mama!
She has a bachelor's degree in History, is a DONA trained birth doula, has her 200 hr RYT (yoga teacher), and is currently finishing her studies to be an Ayurvedic Health Counselor. Jessica plans to use her yoga and health counselor education to serve new mamas through pregnancy with a focus on the first 6 weeks postpartum. Eventually, she would like to train other doulas to incorporate ancient traditions and Ayurveda ("yoga's sister science" and the "science of life") into the care that they pass along.
”I love people. I just really do! It helps me see the best in each person. I'm hopeful for the future and think that we are all ultimately learning how to get along better together. I'm good at helping people feel good.”
