Meet the Owner

Mary Pope’s unparalleled attention to details, love of lifting up families, ability to bring people together and excellent rapport with local providers, has made Oh Baby! KC a top recommended & sought-after addition to the postpartum families all over the Kansas City area.

When Mary started Oh Baby! KC in 2016, she was working as a solo birth & postpartum doula, but collaborating with other professionals in order to serve her clients best. Her goal has always been to create a community for the purpose of serving new and growing families, because she firmly believes that when a family is supported, the community can thrive as a whole. Due to high demand of the excellent care she was providing to families and lack of being able to be in more than one place at once, Mary added other women to her team who shared her love of caring for families in an organic & personable way. Thus Oh Baby! KC transitioned from a solo practice to an agency!

While Mary is no longer offering in-person services, she still maintains Oh Baby! KC as the Owner & Family Care Coordinator.

When she isn’t getting new families set up with care, mentoring the doulas who work with her & making sure everything is running smoothly, she is usually with her husband and 2 boys. In her free time she enjoys spending time in nature, listening to a fantasy audio book and gardening.

Some fun facts about Mary:

• She is originally from a little city in Northwestern Ontario, Canada, but now holds duel citizenship.

• She is half Native American and spent much of the first 25 years of her life on or near far northern Canadian Reservations.

• Mary’s background is in the Arts. She managed & curated a local art gallery, taught piano lessons & played piano for weddings.

• She has a passion for MMA & she is on track to achieve her black belt!
